— 01 · STARTING POINT
Defending innovation without financial history
When Roolalo started working with The Startup CFO, the company was at a very early stage. It had zero revenue, a product in commercial validation and a proposition based on applying artificial intelligence to talent management.
The challenge was clear: preparing a strong ENISA application for a startup with no revenue or financial track record, relying on product innovation, initial customer interest and visibility gained through events and competitions.
Many companies at this stage doubt whether they can access public funding. In this case, the goal was to show that, even without revenue, the project had enough potential, team strength and narrative to be defended before ENISA.
— 02 · WHAT WE DID
Turning an early stage into a solid application
At The Startup CFO, we started working with the team in early May, beginning with a session to assess the project’s readiness and define the best public funding strategy.
Over the following month, we prepared the ENISA application together, building a financial and strategic narrative that clearly explained the opportunity, the level of innovation and the first signs of commercial validation.
We also supported the team through document iterations, refining the positioning of its milestones, early agreements and key arguments to prepare the project defense stage.
ENISA strategy
Design of a strategy adapted to a startup with no revenue, supported by innovation, team strength and market potential.
Business plan
Preparation of the business plan and required documentation to explain the opportunity and defend the application.
Project defense
Support through iterations, milestone positioning and preparation of key arguments before ENISA.
— 03 · FUNDING
Non-dilutive capital to extend runway
The application was submitted in early June, only a few weeks after starting the collaboration.
By the end of the fourth quarter, the project received pre-approval and, on January 7, the loan was signed after the holiday period.
This funding provided key non-dilutive capital to extend runway after an initial equity round, allowing the team to move forward with its next milestones without increasing dilution too early.

The Tribulea case, formerly Roolalo, shows that a startup with no revenue can still access public funding when the project is well prepared. The key lies in building a strong narrative, clearly explaining the innovation and proving that there is a real growth opportunity.
Today, Roolalo is called Tribulea and has evolved into a platform that connects families traveling with children. For The Startup CFO, this case reflects how a well-executed ENISA strategy can become a key first financial milestone for very early-stage teams.
