What should you know when applying for an ENISA loan?

At The Startup CFO, we work to solve the financial management challenges of your startup, specifically when it comes to applying for ENISA loans.

The application process can vary depending on the complexity of the project and the speed of gathering the required documentation. Generally, from initial preparation to final approval, it takes 2–4 months. Working with a consultant can streamline this process, ensuring documents are prepared and submitted on time.

Approval rates depend on the financing line and the quality of submitted applications. ENISA is selective, approving only the most viable and well-documented projects. Working with a specialized consultant can significantly increase your chances of success.

ENISA evaluates applications based on factors like technical viability, innovation, financial structure, and the company’s ability to co-finance the project. A team of experts familiar with these criteria can help present a strong application.

The rating assigned by ENISA directly impacts the loan’s interest rate. This rating considers the company’s solvency and project risk. A well-prepared application can result in a favorable rating and reduced financial costs, highlighting the importance of expert support.

Essential documents include a business plan, audited financial statements, and technical analyses. Comprehensive preparation of this documentation is critical for meeting ENISA’s requirements.

Yes, once a loan is granted, your company can apply for additional financing to support consolidation and expansion efforts, provided there is at least a one-year gap between applications and new equity contributions are made.

ENISA allows for early repayment of the loan if there is a significant change in the company’s shareholder structure. This may include the sale of shares or changes in company control. Planning for these potential scenarios in advance with a consultancy can help avoid unpleasant surprises and ensure compliance with the loan terms.
