— 01 · THE STARTING POINT
Structuring an AI startup financially from scratch
When MiniTales started working with The Startup CFO, the company was still at a very early stage: the product was under development, the team was small, there was no revenue yet, and the financial structure was not clearly defined.
The team had a strong vision for the product, but lacked the tools to translate that vision into a concrete financial plan capable of convincing investors and funding institutions.
“In a pre-seed startup, the biggest risk is not the product. It’s not knowing how much runway you have left or how you’re going to finance the next six months.”
— 02 · WHAT WE DID
Business plan, financial strategy, and investor narrative
The first step was building the business plan together with the founding team: defining the business drivers, growth assumptions, revenue model, and funding needs.
This transformed an idea into a structured project, with a clear roadmap for the company’s first months of operations.
Comprehensive business plan
Financial model, assumptions, and projections tailored to an early-stage AI startup
KPI and key metrics definition
Reporting structure and financial control framework to support decision-making in highly uncertain environments
Financial narrative for fundraising
Adaptation of the business plan to meet ENISA requirements and potential investor expectations
— 03 · FINANCING
Early-stage ENISA funding
One of the key milestones was securing ENISA funding, which allowed MiniTales to obtain the resources needed to operate during its first months and stay focused on product development.
In early-stage startups, where there is still not enough traction to access other sources of capital, public funding becomes a critical growth lever. Our work focused on structuring the project’s financial narrative, adapting the business plan to ENISA’s requirements, and supporting the team throughout the entire application process.

Following this first phase, the relationship evolved. Today, we continue supporting MiniTales through our outsourced CFO service: updating the business plan, preparing the company for future funding rounds, and defining a tailored financial strategy.
The MiniTales case shows how financial strategy and the development of a solid business plan can become decisive factors during the early stages of a startup, especially in a consumer AI environment where speed of execution is critical.
