— 01 · STARTING POINT
Public funding for a newly created startup
Anyformat was founded in 2024 with an ambitious technology proposition: applying generative artificial intelligence to structure unstructured data and simplify the way companies work with complex documents.
A few months after incorporation, the company closed a €520,000 pre-seed round led by 4Founders Capital and Abac Nest Ventures. After this first private capital raise, the next step was to explore non-dilutive public funding options that could complement the round without increasing dilution.
The challenge was especially demanding: preparing a strong ENISA application for a company with very limited operating history, but with high technical and market potential.
— 02 · WHAT WE DID
Designing an ENISA strategy from a very early stage
At The Startup CFO, we started working with Anyformat in July 2024, with the goal of structuring an ENISA application aligned with the company’s stage and growth ambition.
The project required clearly explaining the opportunity, organizing the financial information and building a strong narrative around the team, the technology, the market and the company’s scalability potential.
It was also key to align the application with the recently closed private round, showing how public funding could complement the capital raised and accelerate the next milestones without forcing a new equity round.
ENISA strategy
Design of a public funding strategy adapted to a newly created startup, with limited history but strong growth potential.
Business plan
Preparation of the business plan, financial documentation and growth narrative to defend the opportunity before ENISA.
Process management
Submission of the application, follow-up of the process and coordination of the required information until final approval.
— 03 · FUNDING
ENISA approved in less than 10 months
The collaboration began in July 2024 and the ENISA application was submitted at the end of the summer, only a few months after the company was founded.
In November 2024, the application was approved. Anyformat ultimately signed €180,000 in funding, with only a 10% reduction compared to the requested amount.
For a startup less than one year old, the result was especially positive. The funding helped strengthen the company’s capital structure and complement the pre-seed round with non-dilutive resources.
— 04 · RESULTS
A financial boost in record time
180.000€ ENISA
Public funding approved and signed at a very early stage
Less than 10 months
Approval secured before the company’s first year of activity
Non-dilutive capital
Complement to the pre-seed round without increasing team dilution
The Anyformat case shows how a well-designed public funding strategy can create significant value even for very young companies. When the project has potential, the team is aligned and the documentation is well prepared, ENISA can become a key tool to accelerate early milestones.
For early-stage startups, combining private capital and public funding provides additional room to grow without diluting too early. In Anyformat’s case, that balance helped strengthen its financial position at a key moment of growth.
