— 01 · STARTING POINT
Building structure during expansion
In 2022, Amphora was entering a new growth stage. The company was scaling operations, team and international presence, but its finance structure was still at an early stage.
The challenge was to build financial systems capable of keeping up with that pace: internal reporting, KPI tracking, budgeting, cashflow and processes that could give the management team better visibility.
In a logistics company with intensive operations, international growth and a combination of 3PL service and proprietary software, having reliable financial information was essential for better decision-making.
— 02 · WHAT WE DID
Reporting, control and systems to scale with structure
At The Startup CFO, we supported Amphora during a period of strong expansion, helping build a more robust finance function prepared to scale.
Our work focused on establishing solid internal reporting, with operational KPI tracking, department-level metrics, P&L, cashflow and internal dashboards. This gave the management team greater visibility and improved the quality of decision-making.
We also led financial audits end to end, from document preparation to auditor coordination and accounting clean-up. In addition, we worked with sales and operations to align budgets and the business plan with the company’s operating reality.
Reporting and KPIs
Development of internal reporting, dashboards and department-level metrics to improve business visibility.
Audits and control
Document preparation, auditor coordination, accounting clean-up and recurring financial monitoring.
Budget and systems
Alignment of the business plan with sales and operations, and implementation of NetSuite as ERP.
— 03 · PUBLIC FUNDING
Non-dilutive funding to support innovation
In addition to strategic and operational finance work, Amphora trusted The Startup CFO to optimize its access to non-dilutive public funding.
From 2023, we implemented R&D personnel incentives, benefiting 11 employees that year and 14 in 2024. We also supported the design and submission of an innovation project under CDTI’s Direct Innovation Line.
This funding path helped reinforce Amphora’s commitment to R&D and supported its ability to scale technologically without relying on additional equity dilution.
— 04 · RESULTS
An orderly transition to an internal team
Finance team
Transition from an outsourced structure to an internal team of five people
NetSuite
ERP implemented to support the company’s international expansion
R&D
Incentives and CDTI LIC project to drive innovation without dilution
The collaboration with Amphora ended in 2025, as planned. The company had reached a level of maturity where it already had the team, systems and internal financial control needed to operate without external support.
This case reflects the type of collaboration we aim for at The Startup CFO: being present during the years of strongest growth, building structure and financial clarity, and stepping back when the client is ready to fly solo.
